Reconfiguring the HFS Spectrum Protect backup software

The instruction below will reset your Spectrum Protect backup client configuration to defaults.

Windows

You need administrator privileges to reconfigure the Spectrum Protect backup software in Windows.

Reset configurations to defaults

  1. From Start search for HFS Hub, and click to run. 
  2. From the top menu, select Spectrum Protect -> Set configuration to defaults ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You will be get asked to allow the HFS Hub to make changes to your system which you must do.
  4. At the end you will receive a completion message.

Change node or server

  1. From Start search HFS Hub, and click to run. 
  2. From the top menu, select Spectrum Protect -> Change node or server ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You will be get asked to allow the HFS Hub to make changes to your system which you must do.
  4. At the end you will receive a completion message.

 

macOS

You need administrator privileges to reconfigure the Spectrum Protect backup software on a Mac.

Reset configurations to defaults

  1. Run:
    • Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Set configuration to defaults ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You will get prompted for an administrator password which you must supply
  4. At the end you will receive a completion message.

Change node or server

  1. Run:
    • Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of the HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Change node or server ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You will get prompted for an administrator password which you must supply
  4. At the end you will receive a completion message.

Using the HFS Hub

You can run reconfiguration using the HFS Hub if it is installed on your system.

Reset configurations to defaults

  1. To reconfigure the software on machines running:
    • Show Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of the HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Set configuration to defaults ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You will be prompted for a password to allow the HFS Hub to make changes with root privileges.
  4. At the end you will receive a completion message.

Change node or server

  1. To reconfigure the software on machines running:
    • Show Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of the HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Change node or server ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You will be prompted for a password to allow the HFS Hub to make changes with root privileges.
  4. At the end you will receive a completion message.

Using the command line

The Spectrum Protect configuration can also be changed at the command line with:

/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/HFSconfigure

You need to run this command with root privileges. You will need the Spectrum Protect server name for the server on which your node is registered, and your nodename.

If you have an existing or backed up configuration, you will be given the option to update this configuration keeping your customisations or to reset it to default settings.
