Many lecturers prefer to record initially to their personal Panopto folder. By default, your personal folder is only accessible to you, so it's a useful private space to store your sessions until you have edited and reviewed them. Once you are happy, you will want to share these sessions with students. The recommended method for doing so is to move the session(s) to a Panopto folder associated with either a Canvas course. Once moved, the session(s) will inherit the access permissions of the destination folder and members of the Canvas course will be able to watch the session(s).
Moving a session from your personal Panopto folder to a Canvas course folder
Step 1: Visit https://www.canvas.ox.ac.uk and sign in to your Canvas account with your Oxford SSO.
A one-time step (per course) is required
To ensure you have access to the Panopto folder associated with the course, a one-time step (per course) is required. In Canvas, click the Courses icon in the left-hand side menu bar, select the desired Canvas course, and then click on the Panopto Recordings link in the left-hand Canvas course menu. If you do not see this, please inform your Canvas course administrator.
Step 2: In Canvas, click on the Account icon (left-hand side menu bar) and select My Panopto Folder from the menu, and then click the link: https://ox.cloud.panopto.eu to open the Panopto site in a new tab window.
Step 3: Click the 'My Folder' link from the left-hand side menu:
Step 4: Move your cursor over the preview image of the session(s) to reveal a checkbox and the function icons, including the Move button, at the top of the folder view. Use the checkboxes to select one or more sessions and click the Move button:
Step 5: A modal window will open. In the text entry field type the name of the destination folder or use the triangle to navigate through the folder tree. If you do not see the correct destination folder, ensure you have followed the one-time step (per course) above. Click Move, and close the modal window:
Step 6: Visit the destination to confirm the move was successful.
