Overview: hybrid cloud service

Our hybrid cloud service offers hosting of virtual machines (VMs) on IT Services' SHORE (Shared Hybrid Oxford Resource Environment) infrastructure via the Morpheus Hybrid Cloud interface.

Key features include:

  • Robust, enterprise-grade platform built on VMware vSphere
  • Flexible sizing – scale up or down as required
  • Dual-site replicated storage (one local site, one remote site)
  • Access to resilient data centre network for critical services
  • Self-service remote access

Charges apply for this service: our current tariff is published online.

To take up our hybrid cloud services please send in a web IT request indicating which service you are interested in, an outline of your use case, and an approximate capacity if known. We will then arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements and help find the most cost-effective solution for you.

Hosted VMs

Hosted VMs are supplied with a pre-installed operating system. We can supply:

  • Windows Server (the license cost is included in hosting charge)
  • Debian GNU/Linux
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • CentOS
  • Ubuntu Server LTS

You can configure the specifications for your VM as you require. This will affect the price which you will be charged, which is calculated automatically as you configure.

All administration is the responsibility of the customer. This includes configuration and patching of the operating system and all applications.

VMs are automatically backed up with Veeam.

For instructions on how to use the service, see our page on How to manage hosted VMs in the IT Services hybrid cloud.
