SMS Service - Webex Interact

Notice: Telephony replacement project

In response to BT switching off analogue lines in January 2027, the Telephony Replacement Project is currently coordinating the replacement of centrally managed analogue and critical phone lines.  In future (likely later in 2025) the project will also be reviewing the Chorus VOIP (digital line) service. The provider for the SMS service is Webex Interact (this was previously called Textlocal)

Examples of use cases are:

  •     Course or class notifications/changes
  •     Alerts from alarm monitoring systems
  •     Disaster/emergency planning
  •     General message to staff off-campus
  •     Any situation where a short notification helps

Webex Interact should not be used for sending sensitive or confidential information.

You can send to single contacts or lists of contacts, please see Webex Interact's documention for Sending messages.

Please ensure that before sending messages, you have set up ready to use Sender names

For each message you want to send, simply precede @e2sms.webexinteract.com with your recipient's phone number

Please ensure that this service is enabled, see Webex Interact documentation for configuring an account for Email to SMS

To send Email to SMS to your list of contacts, precede @e2sms.webexinteract.com with your list's ID.

You can get your list's ID in the App by navigating to Contacts > Lists.

 

Import or manually add contacts and create a contact list.  Please see the Webex Interact documentation to manage contacts and lists

You can then send a message by selecting one or more contact list(s) in your account or if you have email to SMS set up please see: send email to SMS using the List ID
